The week ending Feb 28 didn’t end quickly enough, with the VNI being crushed along with global markets to close down 6% on the week. Breadth on the mainboard was horrible, with just 79 gainers and 282 losers. But the news wasn’t all bad, as the SSC approved the “full FOL” VN Diamond ETF on Feb 27. Domestic investor front-running of the ETF’s underlying shares may not materialize given the market panic. If such opportunism does not occur, the 14 stocks in the index might remain underpriced ahead of the ETF’s HOSE listing, likely in May.
