Berkshire Hathaway’s Charlie Munger was asked in February for advice for graduates embarking on careers in finance. His answer: “Lower your expectations.” This directive seems wise for many human endeavors in 2020. The global manufacturing supply shock appears to be shifting to a demand shock, as exogenous risks continue to pressure the market. However, Vietnam at least offers the cold comfort of outperforming relative to ASEAN peers in what we see as a bear market.
